Power connectors with integrated latch or power cables with integrated locking mechanism prevents system disruptions and power failures of IT equipment
The reliability of physical power distribution in data centres depends to a large degree on the how well the power connector systems and power cords have been secured. When maintenance or configuration work is being performed, the cords connecting active IT hardware and the power source or PDU (Power Distribution Unit) can often be accidentally dislodged or even completely disconnected. This can lead to system disruptions or even total failures of productive hardware. What is particularly aggravating is that fixing these kinds of disruptions is time-consuming and, depending on how long it takes, can be very expensive. But most aggravating of all is that these problems and risks could have been prevented in the first place if power connectors with integrated latches or power cords with integrated dual sided locking mechanism had been used from the outset.
