We actively support the EU Code of Conduct on Data Centres
It is only logical that we have committed ourselves to promote (as endorser) the European Code of Conduct for Data Centres (EU DC CoC), the voluntary code of conduct for use, support and dissemination of energy-efficient best-practice strategies, since as a manufacturer and VAD for solutions that significantly increase the cooling and energy efficiency in data centres, we have made it our mission to help data centre operators to optimise their IT infrastructure.
You as our business partner rely so completely on the solutions and services that we supply it is our responsibility to ensure they are always in line with the recommendations for an energy efficient data centre, as laid out in the Best Bractice Guide by the Joint Research Commission of the European Union which supports the Code.
What is the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centre Efficiency?
In November 2008, the Joint Research Commission of the European Union (EU-JRC) took the initiative to develop a voluntary code of conduct to improve energy efficiency in Data Centres. Today the EU Code of Conduct on Data Centre Energy Efficiency represents a voluntary program that is supported worldwide by manufacturers, service providers, independent experts and operators of Data Centres.
What is the goal of the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres?
The goal of the EU Code of Conduct is to motivate the IT industry into realising a higher level of energy efficiency and cost saving within their Data Centres. The Code is based on concrete guidelines and best practices that contribute significantly to reducing energy consumption in Data Centres.
To whom does the Code of Conduct for Data Centres apply?
All Data Centre operators and companies with Data Centres can become participants of the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres. In addition the Code is also aimed at manufacturers and IT Service Providers that align their solutions and services within the energy efficient best practice strategies and establish them on behalf of their customers. All Data Centre operators can simultaneously be ‘participants’ and ‘supporters’. Well-known support is given to the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres today by companies like Microsoft, Fujitsu, HP, Intel, BT, IBM, EMC, VMware and many more who are actively engaged as a participant, sponsor or both.
What are the advantages of participation in the EU DC CoC?
By cooperation with a Data Centre operator that supports the EU DC CoC, or through your own participation, you position yourself as a credible and innovative forward thinking company that is actively and voluntarily working toward improving the energy over environment balance.
By considering these best practice recommendations you will be setting yourself apart from other Data Centre operators in terms of IT solutions and services as well as ensuring reliability and effectiveness.
Data Centre operators will immediately benefit further from the EU Code of Conduct as it offers an excellent guidance for optimising the energy and cost in existing Data Centres. The providers of the best practices can also be relied on as an external reference and guarantee for the reliability and effectiveness of the optimisation measures.
How does Daxten contribute to the spread of the EU DC CoC and how does it implement its best practice measures?
Long before our commitment to the Code of Conduct Daxten worked on developing their own range of CoolControl products which offer solutions and services designed to increase cooling and energy efficiency within the Data Centre. CoolControl products are efficient yet inexpensive and offer excellent and fast payback on investment in terms of energy efficiency. In the future Daxten will continue their efforts within the Data Centre environment and will be working to actively spread the word of the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centre Efficiency and the best practices through our website, newsletters, trade shows and events as well as the continuing development of the CoolControl products.
