Optimal power supply for the entire rack hardware
In general power strips for the rack environments are available as Basic PDUs, Monitored PDUs and Switched PDUs or Managed PDUs. By choosing our free configurable rack PDU, you decide about the features, power capabilities and technical specs to get a PDU which fits perfectly to your individual requirements. Therefore we are offering you only one PDU – and that is simply YourPDU.
In the following, we would like to give you a brief overview about the above mentioned different types of rack power distribution units (PDUs)
Basic Rack PDUs
Basic Rack PDUs (power distribution units) simply ensure that power is supplied to your servers and other active components in the racks of your data centre. Normally these kind of PDUs are available with 4, 8, 10, 12, 16 or more ports and in different power designs.
Monitored Rack PDUs
Monitored Rack PDUs enable IT administrators and DC facility professionals to monitor and manage the power supply of any single IT device in the server cabinet. Every power measurement can be controlled for each outlet port or port groups. In addition, monitored power strips can monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity or differential pressure at rack level.
Managed Rack PDUs / Switched Rack PDUs
With managed or switched PDUs, every individual power port or port groups can be accessed via TCP/IP, Telnet sessions, SNMP or external modem. In the event of a network failure, access is provided out-of-band via serial interface or modem that is optionally integrated into the PDU (depending on model). Proprietary user interfaces or web-based operating interfaces are available to monitor and remotely administer the PDUs and the connected IT devices. Plug-ins are used to integrate several versions into a comprehensive power management, DCIM (Data Centre Infrastructure Management) or BMS (Building Management System) solution.
