IPMI service processor control, out-of-band KVM management and serial console access
The Avocent Universal Management Gateway consolidates serial console management, the control of rack PDUs, environmental sensors and service processors (IPMI) on a single solution platform. It enables IT departments to optimise the control and cost-effective management of their data centre by utilising service processor technologies that are embedded into their servers. The hardware can be monitored proactively and permanently to make sure that their services are available around the clock.

IPMI enabled servers profit from integrated system status and power supply monitoring capabilities. The IPMI proxy unit provides the corresponding data and makes these manageable. In this way IT administrators are able to control and manage the power supply and parameters such as fan speed, temperature etc. – even if the server or operating system is not available. The Avocent solution offers up to 40 simultaneous KVM sessions and enhanced connectivity via TCP/IP, IPMI, SNMP, OPC Modbus, BACnet and Velocity.
